platykurtic

adj. describing a distribution of scores that is flatter than a normal distribution, having more scores at the extremes and fewer in the center. See also mesokurtic; leptokurtic.

recognition threshold

the shortest exposure to a stimulus at which recognition of that stimulus can occur. The shortest exposure at which words, for example, will be recognized is typically between 10 and 40 ms.
