forewarning of persuasive position

the receipt of information that a subsequent communication will contain arguments for a particular attitudinal position. Forewarning that a communication will be a counterattitudinal advocacy tends to decrease attitude change by predisposing elaboration against the message. See also biased elaboration; biasing factor.
