leptokurtic

adj. describing a frequency distribution that is more peaked than the normal distribution, having more scores in the center and fewer at the two extremes. See also mesokurtic; platykurtic.

recognition threshold

the shortest exposure to a stimulus at which recognition of that stimulus can occur. The shortest exposure at which words, for example, will be recognized is typically between 10 and 40 ms.
