n. a potent SSRI (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor). Although its mechanism of action and antidepressant efficacy match those of other SSRIs, it is approved for and largely marketed for treating obsessive-compulsive disorder (see also clomipramine) and social anxiety disorder. essential tremor

trembling of the hands, head, or voice that appears to be hereditary. It is the most common type of movement disorder and is thought to be a benign condition, although its etiology and neurological substrates remain unclear. Also called familial tremor.
