ego involvement

the extent to which a task or other target of judgment is perceived as psychologically significant or important to one’s self-esteem. It is presumed to be a determinant of attitude strength. Also called attitudinal involvement; personal involvement; self-relevance. See also centrality of an attitude; importance of an attitude.
