classification method

in industrial and organizational psychology, a method of evaluating jobs for the purpose of setting wages or salaries in which jobs are assigned to predefined classes or categories, usually on the basis of job title and job description. This usually involves comparison with one or more benchmark jobs. An example of such a method is the General Schedule system of the United States Civil Service.
