variation in experimental scores among identically treated individuals within the same group who experienced the same experimental conditions. It is determined through an analysis of variance and compared with the between-groups variance to obtain an F ratio. Also called within-subjects variance.

in vocational guidance and personnel selection, an individual’s interests or preferences regarded as indicators of personality traits and therefore of suitability for a particular job or type of employment. Interest factors can be derived from interest tests and other self-report inventories or from hobbies, leisure-time activities, and previous jobs.
