trigeminal nerve

the fifth and largest cranial nerve, which carries both sensory and motor fibers. The motor fibers are primarily involved with the muscles used in chewing, tongue movements, and swallowing. The sensory fibers innervate the same areas, including the teeth and most of the tongue in addition to the jaws. Some fibers of the trigeminal nerve innervate the cornea, face, scalp, and the dura mater of the brain. The trigeminal nerve is also sensitive to the airflow changes that occur during breathing.
