a graphical representation of the relationship between two variables that has been adjusted to eliminate erratic or sudden changes in slope, so that its fundamental shape and direction will be evident. Also called smooth curve.

the study of the development of mental functions in children and their transformation across the lifespan. In the 19th and early 20th centuries, the term was preferred over the synonymous developmental psychology.
