slope

n. the steepness or slant of a line on a graph, measured as the change of value on the y-axis associated with a change of one unit of value on the x-axis. In a regression equation, slope is represented by the variable b, with +b indicating an upward slope to the line and −b indicating a downward slope. See also acceleration.
