regression equation

the mathematical expression of the relationship between a dependent (outcome or response) variable and one or more independent (predictor) variables that results from conducting a regression analysis. It often takes the form y = a + bx + e, in which y is the dependent variable, x is the independent variable, a is the intercept, b is the regression coefficient, and e is the error term. Also called regression formula; regression model.
