self-desensitization

n. a procedure used in behavior therapy in which the individual, when confronted with objects or situations that arouse anxiety, engages in coping strategies designed to reduce anxiety, such as repeating positive self-statements, mentally rehearsing a potential confrontation, or employing muscle relaxation. See also desensitization; systematic desensitization.

a table used to prioritize hazards on the basis of risk, which is defined by the intersection between the probability of the hazards and the severity of their consequences. Also called hazard-assessment matrix.
