refusal rate

the proportion of potentially eligible respondents for a survey or study who choose not to participate for a variety of reasons (e.g., survey takes too much time, respondent lacks interest in topic). The refusal rate must be taken into account when calculating the likely response rate for a survey. Also called nonresponse rate.

phentolamine

n. an alpha-adrenergic blocking agent with direct action on heart and smooth muscle. It is a potent vasodilator used in the management of severe hypertension associated with catecholamine excess, as in patients with pheochromocytomas. It is in infrequent clinical use. U.S. trade name: Regitine.
