program evaluation

an appraisal process that contributes to decisions on installing, continuing, expanding, certifying, or modifying social programs, depending on their effectiveness. Program evaluation also is used to obtain evidence to rally support or opposition for the organization providing services and to contribute to basic knowledge in the social and behavioral sciences about social interventions and social experimentation.
