praxis

n.

1. a medical name for motor planning. Inadequate praxis is apraxia.

2. practice, as opposed to theory. Aristotle contrasted praxis, or practical activity, with theoretical or rational activity. The term is sometimes used to denote knowledge derived from and expressed chiefly in practical or productive activity, as opposed to theoretical or conceptual knowledge.
