1. in vocational rehabilitation, follow-up assistance or programs designed to help recently employed individuals with disabilities adjust to their new job situation. Examples include counseling, financial support, and continuing medical treatment and care. 2. services provided to help individuals who are economically disadvantaged (e.g., those receiving public assistance in the form of welfare) develop various work-related skills essential to sustained long-term employment and enhance their potential for wage increases and career advancement. Services may provide access to and assistance with child care and transportation; on-the-job training; continuing education classes; and mentoring programs designed to help newly hired individuals adjust to the workplace.
