a method of enhancing an individual’s ability to interpret perceived objects or events in concrete terms. For example, the ability of a child to recognize letters of the alphabet may be enhanced when he or she traces the outlines of the letters.

the study of mental experiences, including consciousness and intentionality, in nonhuman animals and of the influence of these experiences on the animals’ behavior as they interact with their natural environment.
