participatory evaluation

a type of program evaluation in which the individuals who provide a service (e.g., professional staff) take a direct role in evaluating the service or program; clients of the service provided may also be involved. The official evaluator facilitates proceedings rather than actually conducting the appraisal. Also called collaborative evaluation; empowerment evaluation.
