parametric test

a hypothesis test that involves one or more assumptions about the underlying arrangement of values in the population from which the sample is drawn. Common parametric tests include analysis of variance, regression analysis, chi-square tests, t tests, and z tests. Also called parametric hypothesis test. Compare nonparametric test.
