olivopontocerebellar atrophy

a slowly progressive neurological disorder characterized by degeneration of neurons in the pons, cerebellum, and olivary nucleus. Symptoms are highly variable across individuals but typically include ataxia, difficulties with balance and walking, tremors, and dysarthria. In many cases, onset is in middle adulthood and death occurs within 10 to 20 years.
