Inocybe
n. a genus of mushrooms, some species of which are poisonous because they contain the toxic alkaloid muscarine. Symptoms of poisoning include salivation, perspiration, and lacrimation (tears); at higher doses, these symptoms may be followed by abdominal pains, severe nausea and vomiting, diarrhea, visual disturbances, labored breathing, and bradycardia (slowed heart rate), which may potentially result in death from cardiac or respiratory failure. Treatment is with atropine.
