cooperating teacher

cooperating teacher

an experienced teacher assigned to supervise student teacher trainees who are learning to teach in classrooms. Student teachers are thus provided with an opportunity to put into practice the principles of teaching that they have learned in their teacher education training programs. Cooperating teachers introduce the teacher trainees to the practical component of teaching in such a manner as to minimize the mistakes that they are likely to make.
