1. the physical body (Greek, “body”), as distinguished from the mind or spirit (see soul). See mind–body problem.

2. in neuroscience, the cell body of a neuron.

3. a plant regarded as sacred (and personified as the plant god Soma) by ancient Aryan peoples, which some experts have hypothesized to be fly agaric (Amanita muscaria).
