eureka task

a problem-solving task designed to investigate the phenomenon of sudden insight into a problem’s solution. The route to solving the problem is usually not obvious and typically requires a mental leap beyond the sorts of solutions used for everyday problems. See also aha experience; discontinuity hypothesis.
