endurance activity

endurance activity

a physical activity that depends on aerobic capacity, that is, the ability to produce energy for muscles by using oxygen for long periods of time. Sport performances that are endurance activities include marathons, runs over 10,000 m, and triathlons. Also called aerobic activity. See aerobic exercise; anaerobic exercise.
