1. the attachment of a fertilized ovum to the uterine wall at the blastocyst stage of development, 6 to 8 days after ovulation.

2. the placing of a drug (e.g., a subcutaneous implant) or an object (e.g., an artificial pacemaker) within the tissues of the body.
