function coefficient

a quantitative value that multiplies a variable and that can change depending on other variables or covariates. A function coefficient differs from other coefficients (e.g., a regression coefficient) in that it can vary, whereas the others are constant over all entities or participants. A function coefficient is often used in such statistical methods as regression analysis and time-series analysis, particularly when the data change over time or space.
