employment test

any instrument used to assess the knowledge, skills, abilities, and other characteristics of applicants so as to predict their performance in a job. Employment tests can be used to measure a variety of attributes, such as decision-making skills, aptitudes and interests, personality traits, and sensory and motor abilities. See selection test. oddity problem

a learning task in which a nonhuman animal is required to choose an object or stimulus that is in some way different from a target or other possible choices. The purpose is to test the animal’s ability to perceive relationships and differences among a number of similar objects.
