pseudoachondroplasia

pseudoachondroplasia

n. a form of short-limb autosomal dominant dwarfism that is usually diagnosed at 2 to 3 years of age. Individuals have normal head size and facial features, short arms and legs, a waddling walk, and early-onset osteoarthritis. Intelligence is not affected. It was once believed to be related to achondroplasia, but without the characteristically enlarged head size seen in that disorder. Pseudoachondroplasia is now considered a separate disorder. Also called pseudoachondroplastic spondyloepiphysial dysplasia.
