counterattitudinal behavior

behavior that is inconsistent with an attitude. Having a negative attitude toward a political candidate but agreeing to donate money to that candidate’s political campaign is an example of counterattitudinal behavior. See also attitude–behavior consistency. Compare proattitudinal behavior.
