correction for continuity

a procedure that is applied to adjust for the fact that a statistical method is based on an assumption that the data have a continuous distribution when, in fact, they have a discrete distribution. Yates’s correction for continuity is an example.

n. a training device that simulates the conditions or environment of the actual operating situation or that resembles the actual equipment to be used, such as a flight simulator for pilots. The training allows for a safe, lower-cost experience with the conditions under study but may lack realism.
