constitutional type

a classification of individuals based on physique and other biological characteristics or on a hypothetical relationship between physical and psychological characteristics, such as temperament, personality, and a tendency to develop a specific type of mental disorder. See Carus typology; Kretschmer typology; Sheldon’s constitutional theory of personality.
