central aphasia

loss of the ability to understand or express language resulting from brain lesions. This term is no longer in common use and was never specifically defined: It has been identified with conduction aphasia and Wernicke’s aphasia, among other types.

on-center ganglion cell

a retinal ganglion cell that is excited by light in the center of its receptive field but is inhibited by light in the surround. See also on response. Compare off-center ganglion cell.
