Alzheimer’s Association
a nonprofit organization that provides information, support groups, and other assistance to individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and their caregivers and that promotes research in the field to enhance early detection, prevention, and treatment of the disease. Originally known as the Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders Association upon its founding in 1980, the organization adopted its current name in 1988. It is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, and has more than 75 local chapters nationwide.
