nasal cavity

nasal cavity

the space within the nose, divided into two halves by the nasal septum, that communicates with the exterior via the two nostrils and leads to the nasopharynx. Separated from the oral cavity by the hard palate, it is lined with mucous membrane containing olfactory epithelium and also forms part of the vocal tract.
