y-coordinate

y -coordinate

n. the vertical value in a pair of graph coordinates (x, y), which indicates how far to move up or down from the origin along the y-axis. For example, in the ordered pair (4, 8), the y-coordinate is 8 and the corresponding horizontal x-coordinate value is 4. See Cartesian coordinate system.
