Western blot

a method of detecting a particular protein molecule in a mixture (e.g., a sample from a tissue or organ). It involves separating the proteins with gel electrophoresis, blotting the separated proteins onto nitrocellulose, then using an isotopically labeled or enzyme-linked antibody to bind to and highlight the protein of interest.
