wait-list control group

a group of research participants who receive the same intervention or treatment as those in the experimental group but at a later time. Wait-list control groups commonly are used in therapy outcome and similar studies to account for the potential influence of elapsed time on treatment effectiveness; they may also be used to address the ethical ramifications of withholding treatment from individuals.
