voice key

an electronic device that interfaces between a microphone and a computer, used for recording vocal response times in language-production tasks, such as word or picture naming. When a stimulus is presented the voice key is activated and begins to monitor the sound level from the microphone; if the sound level then exceeds a specific threshold level, indicating speech, the voice key records the amount of time that has elapsed since it was activated.
