visual preference paradigm

a research technique for studying visual discrimination in infants in which the amount of time spent looking at different visual stimuli is measured to determine which stimulus the infants prefer. It is assumed that the stimulus looked at most often is the one that is preferred and that such preferences indicate an ability to discriminate among stimuli.
