view invariance

in recognition by components theory, an unchanging property of three-dimensional elements called geons that enables them to be identified when looked at from different angles. Such properties include the curvature of a sphere and the parallel lines of a cube. More broadly, the term view invariant may be used in the context of object recognition, meaning that an object can be identified from any angle. For example, a horse can be identified if it is viewed from above or from the side.
