upward Pygmalion effect

an effect in which the expectations of followers or subordinates lead to behavior on the part of him or her or superior that is consistent with these expectations. The behavior of the leader does not reflect his or her true abilities or personality traits but rather the perception of the leader by subordinates. Compare Pygmalion effect.
