trend analysis

any of several techniques designed to uncover systematic patterns (trends) in a set of variables, such as linear growth over time or quadratic increases in response to increases in the level of an independent variable (e.g., increased dosage levels). Such analysis is often used to predict future events. Also called trend test.

a manifestation of parental behavior or alloparenting in animals, usually stimulated by hormonal and other physiological changes when in the presence of offspring. These include the secretion of prolactin, which induces broodiness and parental feeding of young in birds and milk production in mammals.
