transient tic disorder

a tic disorder involving the presence of one or more tics occurring many times a day for a period of between 4 weeks and 1 year. The tics may be simple (e.g., eye blinking, facial grimacing, throat clearing, sniffing) or more complex (e.g., hand gestures, stomping, echolalia, meaningless change in vocal pitch or volume).
