topographical disorientation

a disorder of spatial visualization exemplified by difficulty in recalling the arrangement of rooms in one’s house or of the furniture in a room within that house. Individuals with topographical disorientation also may be unable to recall or describe the location of landmarks or other familiar objects in their neighborhoods. The condition is typically associated with impairment of the right parietal lobe. Also called topographagnosia.
