tonometry

n. a method of measuring intraocular pressure that is used in the diagnosis of glaucoma and ocular hypertension. Tonometry is usually performed with a device (called a tonometer) that blows a puff of air against the eyeball and automatically measures the amount of indentation (resistance of the surface of the eye), which indicates the intraocular pressure.
