time sense

the ability to estimate time intervals or the time of day without information from clocks. Numerous external and internal stimuli contribute to a sense of time, including the position of the sun in the sky, regular daily events (e.g., mealtimes, school classes), and internal body rhythms (see biological clock). However, one’s estimation of the passage of time can be influenced and distorted by many factors (see psychological time).
