n. a novel antidepressant compound with a modified tricyclic structure thought to act by increasing brain-derived neurotrophic factor via glutamatergic mechanisms, which in turn decreases serotonin neurotransmission. Its efficacy compares favorably to currently used antidepressants. French trade name: Stablon.
