third ventricle

third ventricle

a cavity of the brain, filled with cerebrospinal fluid, that forms a cleft between the two lobes of the thalamus beneath the cerebral hemispheres. It communicates with the lateral ventricles and caudally with the fourth ventricle through the cerebral aqueduct.
