tetrachromatism

n.

1. the color vision of organisms that have four different types of cone cells that respond to different wavelengths. Such organisms (e.g., zebrafish, many birds) are called tetrachromats.

2. the theory that normal color vision in humans is based upon perception of the four colors red, green, blue, and yellow.
